Carrol graduated with a degree in the Arts, having majored in Sculpture.
She was a teacher for 11 years in Cape Town, after which she resigned in 1989 to pursue her lifelong passion as an artist and designer. She began making verdigris candles that set off a market trend, then switched to silver and made jewelry.
In 1991 Carrol combined her artistic flair and talent in sculpture with her jewelry experience to create the distinctive and unique pewter handles for cutlery, and the beginnings of the CBFA range.
